Vaisnodevi :
Seven hundred years ago, the devotee Sridhar, being instructed in a dream, discovered the shrine of Goddess in a cave at the hill top, 2112 m above sea level, 62 km away from Jammu. The Goddess here, according to the Devi Purana is Vaisnodevi, the presiding deity of creation, preservation and destruction of the world.
How To Reach: From Katra to Vaisnodevi shrine is 14 km. The distance can be covered by horse, dandi, candi or on foot. Though not inaccessible the passage is full of slopes and steeps.After getting down from bus one has to walk 2 km on plains, then ascends 9 km to reach Sanjichat (2800 m). Again moves 2 km 0on plains and then further ascends 1 km to enter the shrine of Vaisnodevi.

Patnitop :
Surrounded by mountains and shaded by the trees of Deodar and pine, lies the peaceful beauty of Patnitop(2024 m). During winter snowfalls makes the place enthralling.
How To Reach: Along Jammu- Srinagar NH 1A buses are plying from Jammu.

Katra :
Katra (2800 ft) is 48 km from Jammu, 28 km on the NH-1A en route to Srinagr and then 20 km to the left, off the highway. Buses ply on this route from morning to evening.

Srinagar :
Srinagar is located in the heart of the Kashmir valley and spreads on both sides of river Jhelum. The lakes Dal and Nagin enhance its picturesque setting, while the changing play of seasons and the salubrious climate keeps the city equally attractive to visitors round the year.

Pahalgam :
Pahalgam is situated just 96 km from Srinagar on the height of 2195 m in “Lidder Valley”. This calm health resort is famous throughout the World for its natural beauty. It is surrounded by high peaks of mountains so it remains too cold. Fishing in Lidder Nalah gives special amusements to the tourists.

Leh (Ladakh) :
Ladakh, the land of unsurmountable mountains and fascinating monasteries and eternal lamaseries, lies beyond the kashmir valley. Zojila, the 3500 metres highpass in the mountains, divides the lush valley of Kashmir from the moonlike landscape of Ladakh. Leh, its capital city lies at the tri-junction of the historic “silk route” from Sinkiang to West Asia and to the plains of India, situated at 3500 metres in the hills of Karakoram range.
How To Get There: Indian Airlines operates to Leh from Srinagar, Delhi and Chandigar. The nearest railhead is Jammu, 690 km. Leh is approachable on a State Highway from Srinagar (434 km) crossing high passes. The road is closed between October and May.
What to See:Leh Palace, Namgyal Tsemo, Leh Mosque, Gompa Tsemo, Stok Palace Museum. Excursions: Alchi gompa, Choglamsar, Hemis Gompa, Shey Palace and Monastery, Hemis High Altitude National Park, Stakhna Monastery.

TSOMARIRI LAKE :
The Tsomariri Lake is a beautiful mountain- bound expanse of water, about 240 kms from Leh in Rupsho Valley. The lake is located at a height of 14,000 ft. near a small village of Korzok. Set up in the 19th Century, the Korzok Monastery houses Shakyamuni Buddha and other statues. The Tsokar (the salt lake) about 76 km from Tsomariri is the other beautiful lake in this area.

PANGONG LAKE :
Pangong Lake, 40 miles long and nearly 2-4 miles wide, is situated at a height of 4267 meters above sea level. From a lighter shade of the very brilliant colour in the morning to a rich deep blue in the evening, the water of the lake is not as salty as sea water. Travelers are not allowed to pitch their tents near the lake and are only allowed to go up to Spangmik due to security reason. The landscape on the way to Pangong and around the lake is spectacular.

NUBRA VALLEY :
Nubra or Ldumra (the valley of flowers), situated in the north of Leh, is about 10,000 ft. above the sea level. The valley is famous for Bactarian Camels (Shaggy double hump Camel) that can be seen grazing around sand dunes. Besides there are Samstanling Lonastery and Khardung la pass, the highest motorable road on earth at a height of 18, 380 ft.

CHANG THANG :
Chang Thang or the Eastern Flat Land is located east of Leh on China border. The altitude of the area is about 14,600 m above sea level. Also known as Rupsho valley, the area is known for Changpa nomads, wild ass, lakes and rare species of birds.

ZANSKAR VALLEY :
Towards the south-east of Ladakh, about 500 kms from Leh lies the mystic and once independent kingdom of Zanskar. It is the most isolated of all Himalayan valleys- inaccessible for 8 months of a year due to heavy snowfall resulting in closure of all access passes. The main attraction of Zanskar valley are the fort of Zorawar at Panikhar, village of Zangla with its old castle, now in ruins, the monasteries of Stongdey, Karsha, Bardan, Zongkul and Phugtal.
