General Informations:
Raipur
Raipur the capital of Chhattishgarh boasts of the only airport in the state and is well connected to the major cities of the country. It is thus the ideal point from where the traveler can proceed to explore the rest of the region.

How To Reach: Raipur’s airport at Mana is located around 15 kms from the city centre and is well linked by taxi and autorickshaws. The railway station, located at the heart of the city is close to the main business centre as well as bus stand. Like the railway station, Raipur’s main bus stand is located in the centre of the city in Pindari. There are connecting buses from here to Bilaspur (3 hrs), JAgdalpur and Dantewara (6 hrs).
What To See: Purani Basti, Burha Talab, Dudhadhari Math and Temple, Mahamaya Temple, Jaitu Sau Math, Jagannath Temple, Jai Stambh Chowk, Kaiser-e-Hind-Darwaza, Ravi Bhawan, Jawahar Gate, Mahant Ghasidas Memorial Museum, Hatkeswar Mahadev Temple.

Jagadalpur
Bastar, the largest district in India is located on Orissa border. The district HQ of Bastar is Jagdalpur at an altitude of 1824 m.

How To Reach: From Visakhapatnam train is available for Jagdalpur (Visakhapatnam-Kirandul Pgr/Train Name 2VK). Although Chitrakote is located in Chhattisgarh, it is better to tour Jagdalpur along with Waltair/Araku/Koraput/Jeypore package. Jagdalpur is also connected by bus service with Vijaywada, Hydrabad, Raipur and many other destinations of three adjoining states. From Jagdalpur city buses for Chitrakote, 38 km west are available.
What To See: Chitrakote Falls, Kangra Valley National Park, Tirathgarh Waterfall, Kutumsar Caves, Kailash Gufa, Thamda Ghumar Waterfall, Dantewara, Barsur, Bhaisdhara Crocodile Park, Mandawa Waterfall, Chitradhara, Dalpat Sagar.

Amarkantak
Amarkantak is a place shaded by sal trees in a beautiful environment. A great pilgrim centre for Hindus, Amarkantak is the source of the rivers Narmada and Sone.

How To Reach: To reach Amarkantak one have to avail Nagpur bound train and get down at Bilaspur (720 km). From there Katni branch line train can be availed. Amarkantak is 235 km from Jabalpur.
What To See: Brighu Kamandal, Dhuni Pani, Dugdh Dhara, Kapildhara, Mai ki Bagiya, Narmada Udgam Mandir, Sonmuda, Achankamar Wild Life Sanctuary.

Achanakmar Sanctuary
The Achanakmar Wildlife Sanctuary, established in 1975, covers an area of 557.55 sq. km. The region is mainly hilly with altitudes ranging from 200 m to 1000 m above sea level. It is home to a variety of wild animals like the tiger, leopard, gaur, chital, jackal, striped hyena, wild dog, barking deer, bear etc. The Kanha- Achanakmar corridor connects the Kanha Tiger Reserve in Madhya Pradesh with Achanakmar Wildlife Sanctuary.

How To Reach:The nearest railhead to Achanakmar is Pendra Road (25 km). One can however base one’s travel from Bilaspur (40 km) where better transport and lodging facilities are available. It is also close to Amarkantak.

Bilaspur
Bilaspur, situated on the banks of the Arpa river, is known as Chhattishgarh’s Dhaan ka Katora, meaning ‘bowl of rice’ in Hindi. The city is surrounded by lush green forests in the north and the coal mines of Hasdeo valley in the east. The region is known for its aromatic Doobraj rice, colourful soft Kosa silk saris and its varied and colourful culture.

How To Reach:Bilaspur, located in the northern part of Chhattishgarh, is a major railway junction and the headquarters of the South East Central Railway. It is well connected via express trains with Nagpur, Mumbai, Kolkata, Pune, Delhi, Bhubaneswar, Hyderabad etc. It has a large number of local as well as long distance buses that serve destinations like Raipur, Jagdalpur, Raigarh etc.
What To See: St. Augustine’s Church, Kanan Pindari Mini Zoo, Ratanpur-the capital of the Kalachuris in the 11th and 12th centuries, the ancient trade post of Malhar, the temples of Tala, the Vishnu temples of Seorinarayan, the power plants of Korba, the cave paintings around Raigarh, the lush valley of Bagicha, famous lakes of Khutaghat and Hasdeo-Bango.

Gangarel
Gangarel Steam is located on the confluence of Mahanadi, Siliyari & Sonchuri. A few steps away from Gangrel is the temple of Angarmati Mata. One can travel to nearby Madamsili & Dudwaya Steam. 48 km from Gangrel is Sihaoa- the source of Mahanadi.

How To Reach:On Mumbai Howrah via Nagpur line Raipur is 832 km from Howrah. 78 km from Raipur is Dhamtari. 12 km from here is Gangrel Steam. Jagdalpur is 190 km from Gangarel.
